Birmingham to Burton

Amputee with kayak before fundraising canal kayak event

Our chair, Josephine Bridges, has always been a keen kayaker and long weekends away had often been spent taking on kayaking adventures in some of Britains wonderful rivers. After funds had been raised for her own leg she decided to take on yet another kayak adventure but this time traversing the canals, travelling from Birmingham (her home town) to Burton-On-Trent (where she purchased her leg); a total of 40 miles and 50 locks. The 2 day trip invited Positive Bones supporters to come out and see her kayaking in wind and rain; pulling her kayak past and over locks, sometimes pulling it for over a mile but she was determined and when she reached her final destination she broke down in tears from all the amazing support Positive Bones had received along the way.
